Forestry Investment – Experts in the world of timberland investment are to take part in the sixth annual Timberland Investment World Summit on this year on 26-28 October, held at the Millennium Broadway Hotel in New York.
The speakers, most of whom are new for this year, include investment experts from some of the largest and most succesful timberland funds. They will share their expertise on the benefits of investing in timber as an alternative asset class.
In addition to the speakers, there will be a roundtable discussion about the key timberland markets this year: Brazil, New Zealand, China, Russia and Australia.
There will also be guidance of selecting a timber investment management organisation and on opportunities for generating cashflow from carbon schemes, ecosystem services and woody biomass.
The future of global demand for wood products is also to be looked at from a macroeconomic perspective.
Investing in timberland is seen as the ‘ultimate investment hedge’ by some, according to the summit literature and the summit itself is set to look into how forestry investment is a sustainable, low-risk asset class that can deliver superior returns compared to assets that are highly correlated with the economy.
